Black or White?!

Who knew having a fixer upper house with too many projects to count was going to be tough to prioritize during the summer!? After being gone Friday-Sunday for weddings the past two weekends, we decided this weekend we were going to get after those projects! Ripping out and replacing our entire kitchen is less than two months away so we decided to start the project-weekend by hitting up the Washington Avenue tile stores.

We decided last month with my mom to go with the Zodiaq Quartz in Mystic Black and suddenly, back in the tile shop with Andrew, we were changing our minds to go with a lighter option. We both really liked the Zodiaq Quartz in Coarse Carrara, which resembles marble.

In switching the color of the countertops, we would have to select a different floor and a back splash. I was not expecting to make this drastic change and feeling a little stressed. We headed to Lowe's to pick out some new tiles and are now contemplating a gray slate look.

Which one!?

This house stuff is exhausting so we didn't get much done this weekend - just changed every decision about the kitchen we have made so far :( What do you think!? We were both so pooped we called it an early night to prepare for the Philly tri Sunday morning.

My tri boys

It was a great day and the boys both did so well! Since Andrew isn't running, he signed up for the Aqua Bike race (just swim and bike) and won!

We might have lost the house battle this weekend but the good tri weekend made it better!

New Doors and #meettheshues

Our current kitchen doors are prison style so we really wanted doors that would let more light into our new kitchen. While I was on the bench a few months ago we ordered our new doors, which were finally installed on Friday. It is so exciting to finally begin un-ghettofying our kitchen!

Old doors

We decided to go with a cheaper option, which I started to regret when two very South Philly men arrived Friday morning to remove the old doors and replace them with the new. These men did not look like they were professionals or in a hurry so I knew I was in for an interesting morning.

Bye bye old doors

When the old doors were removed, I noticed that underneath the frame was all moldy and rotted out. I asked the dudes if this was going to be a problem but they said it was fine. I was not feeling good about this install..

The dudes did nothing about the rotting and installed the new doors right over top of it. When we received quotes from other companies, we were guaranteed that anything that needed to be replaced would be to guarantee a quality install - for 50% more of the cost. Our new doors ended up looking great but I am concerned that the quality isn't what it could have been with another company :(

The new door!

The new outside door

After the big install we headed out to Pittsburgh for the Shue wedding! I was super excited to finally see Carly and Mike's new house, which is absolutely adorable. They have done such a great job making their home warm, comforting and inviting. We got in late Friday and spent Saturday morning playing golf (the boys) and doing Pure Barre (the girls). It was such a fun morning with our good friends and we felt great heading to the wedding in our Rent the Runway dresses. The ceremony was short, sweet and full of love and by 4pm we were headed to the Nevillewood Country Club for a beautiful reception.

Brynne and Zach were so happy all day, they both looked fantastic and everyone at the wedding couldn't be happier for the beautiful couple. This was the last of our college friend weddings so it was a bitter sweet evening celebrating together.

College friends

As soon as the sun went down, the night got weird.. and it was awesome. We were dancing, laughing and having the best time so pictures were pretty priceless.

The night ended with a sparkler send off and a few more selfies :) Congratulations again Brynne and Zach, we love you!!

Slowing Down

Ok, ok, I'm not 21 years old anymore. Last weekend, coupled with a crazy three days in Charlotte and a full day of jury duty on Friday left me pooped. So this weekend we chilled super super hard.. and it was awesome. We woke up Saturday morning to work out - I did body pump and Andrew won his bike race (thanks to his awesome new kit)!

Mer looks so sad haha

We spent the rest of the beautiful Saturday at the Phillies game, hanging out with Andrew's work colleagues.

Other than that, we were totally lame and low key, with movies every night! We received some very disappointing news that our kitchen will be pushed back until August so it's time to finish up some of our lingering house projects in the mean time.

Weekend of selfies, apparently :)
