New Doors and #meettheshues

Our current kitchen doors are prison style so we really wanted doors that would let more light into our new kitchen. While I was on the bench a few months ago we ordered our new doors, which were finally installed on Friday. It is so exciting to finally begin un-ghettofying our kitchen!

Old doors

We decided to go with a cheaper option, which I started to regret when two very South Philly men arrived Friday morning to remove the old doors and replace them with the new. These men did not look like they were professionals or in a hurry so I knew I was in for an interesting morning.

Bye bye old doors

When the old doors were removed, I noticed that underneath the frame was all moldy and rotted out. I asked the dudes if this was going to be a problem but they said it was fine. I was not feeling good about this install..

The dudes did nothing about the rotting and installed the new doors right over top of it. When we received quotes from other companies, we were guaranteed that anything that needed to be replaced would be to guarantee a quality install - for 50% more of the cost. Our new doors ended up looking great but I am concerned that the quality isn't what it could have been with another company :(

The new door!

The new outside door

After the big install we headed out to Pittsburgh for the Shue wedding! I was super excited to finally see Carly and Mike's new house, which is absolutely adorable. They have done such a great job making their home warm, comforting and inviting. We got in late Friday and spent Saturday morning playing golf (the boys) and doing Pure Barre (the girls). It was such a fun morning with our good friends and we felt great heading to the wedding in our Rent the Runway dresses. The ceremony was short, sweet and full of love and by 4pm we were headed to the Nevillewood Country Club for a beautiful reception.

Brynne and Zach were so happy all day, they both looked fantastic and everyone at the wedding couldn't be happier for the beautiful couple. This was the last of our college friend weddings so it was a bitter sweet evening celebrating together.

College friends

As soon as the sun went down, the night got weird.. and it was awesome. We were dancing, laughing and having the best time so pictures were pretty priceless.

The night ended with a sparkler send off and a few more selfies :) Congratulations again Brynne and Zach, we love you!!

  1. Good luck with your new door! I hope your predictions about your door installers won't come true. How old was that "prison" door that you replaced, anyway? Perhaps that's a factor to the molds that you saw. These molds have a tendency to transfer into nearby places so perhaps be wary of them. Either way, I hope you're satisfied with this new door of yours, as it makes your kitchen brighter!
