Big Changes

I returned to Secaucus on Tuesday after my grandfather's funeral to an email from my manager that my time on the project was going to end early, that Friday. Typical for consulting but I had just started staying on the Upper East Side and was loving it, so I was super bummed. Fortunately, that same Tuesday I received a phone call from Vynamic that they wanted me to join their team! After four and a half years with Accenture, I put in my two week notice and planned a night out at The Gansevoort with my team to celebrate.

I have learned so much over the past four and a half years but I decided it was time to make a change. I have been traveling Monday-Thursday to a different city every week and sleeping in a hotel room alone, so it's time to get settled in Philadelphia. We celebrated the new job with restaurant week dinner at Fitler Dining Room with my sister and Cody.

The new job is going to be filled with a lot of big, positive changes - no more eating out every meal, good nights of sleep in my bed with my husband, and an opportunity to meet new friends in Philly, to name a few! Vynamic was just named #2 boutique consulting company in the world and has hopes of being the healthiest company in the world, so I am excited for everything they have to offer.

Tomorrow morning I get on a plane for my final week at Accenture in Charlotte. It will be a bittersweet week but I am looking forward to new beginnings!

Saying Goodbye

On January 8, 2015, my family attended the funeral to say goodbye to our beloved Pop Pop. He was 94 years and 337 days old and would have celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary with his wife, Lagora, this year.

We spent the weekend as a family celebrating a lifetime of wonderful memories with a truly loved man. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and kind words, we appreciate the support. RIP Pop Pop.

Holiday Recap and Welcome 2015!

Every Sunday, as I pack my suitcase for my Monday-Thursday travels, I get anxiety thinking about everything I have to do for the week ahead. I have loved writing this blog throughout 2014 because it eases my anxiety and forces me to reflect on my favorite moments. This Sunday as I prepare for traveling after a wonderful two week break, I am enjoying looking back at the holiday fun with our families.

After Christmas Eve at the Haughton's we headed to my parent's house in Kutztown for Christmas day celebrations. We always open presents with my parents at their house first and then head to my Aunt and Uncle's house to spend time with my aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The day after Christmas we get together again for our annual family bowling tournament, in honor of my great Uncle Edgar. Although he was everyone's main target to beat, Andrew won the bowling tournament for the third year in a row. Maybe next year Oswalds...

After bowling we headed back to Philadelphia for a week at home. We had big plans to run around and be tourists all week but decided it would be best to relax and spend some time at home with the cats. Andrew's parents bought us tickets to see Stomp at the Merriam Theater, which was really awesome.

We don't normally do anything too crazy for New Years but this year we were invited to celebrate with some friends on the Upper East Side in NYC. We headed up to New York Wednesday afternoon and spent the night in the cutest little apartment with friends. It was a great night and an awesome way to kick off 2015.

Andrew headed back to work on Friday, his birthday, which was a total bummer. I used the day home alone to run some errands around the city, including a trip to the Italian Market for groceries. While there I met a man selling mini turtles and couldn't help myself but buy Andrew a surprise mini turtle. We named him Ferd and, although he doesn't do much and probably has salmonella, we are so excited to have him as the newest member of the family.

After a very chill weekend, I met my mom and sister at Terrain, Anthropologie's garden store, for Sunday morning brunch. I always forget how yucky winter weather is so it was fun to go look at all the beautiful garden supplies and get inspired for the spring.

I want 2015 to be a year of big changes, healthy eating, fast running, home improvements, and lots of travel. Hoping to mix things up a bit, I started taking classes at Philly Dance Fitness. We do everything from ballet to hip hop to twerking and I am obsessed. I went to two classes this weekend, Power Jam Stretch and Dance Party Boot Camp, and cannot wait to try the rest of the classes. 2015: Mrs. H. Twerks. :)
