Time to Slow Down

Work has been super crazy (long hours, too much travel, bad hotel sleep) and, on top of that, I am trying to do too much outside of work. The weekend spent with my sister and cousin Britta was worth it, but it all caught up to me in the form of a chest cold this week. It's time to slow down a bit - lots of yoga, pilates, and sleep this week.

After a big night out Friday, we headed to Boeing Saturday morning for Boeing's Family Day. Although Boeing hosts a family day every year, we have always been out of town, so this was my first. We got to sit inside a V22, see the Chinook assembly line, and see Andrew's office. It was so nice to see Andrew's work life!

We were up way too early on Sunday (4:45am) to head to Andrew's Upper Dublin Sprint Triathlon. This was the first Vynamic Team Triathlon and, since I am retired, Andrew signed up. It was a really fun day with my coworkers and Andrew got in second place overall!

After another long week, we are looking forward to a vacation with friends in South Carolina for the long weekend. Can't wait!

A Collier Leeds Mother's Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all my favorite mommies out there! What a beautiful weekend! We celebrated the nice weather on Friday with a Vynamic Graduate Hospital happy hour at my coworker’s house in Naval Square. It was a fantastic evening with way too much wine, Thai food, and beautiful views of the city. I am constantly grateful for working in Philadelphia with such wonderful people - check out the latest article on all the great things Vynamic has to offer!

We woke up early Saturday morning to pick up some flowers at the Rittenhouse Market and head to my parent’s in Kutztown for some Mirky Birda Mother’s Day lovin’. Since Collier Leeds is now in full swing, we spent the day helping my mom with designs and doggy photo shoots.

Our Aunt Hallie and Uncle Larry were in Penn State for my cousin’s graduation (eek! I am getting old), so my parent’s were doggy sitting their lovely dog, Stella. My sister and I actually fostered Stella as a puppy when she was discovered as part of the biggest dog fighting ring bust in Philadelphia. It was our responsibility to give her some love and make sure her training to make her big and tough hadn't started. Our weekend foster turned into six weeks of spoiling the little sweetheart and making her the loveliest little pit-bull you've ever met.

As Stella grew up, we couldn’t keep her in our tiny Philly apartment but also couldn’t bear to give her up, so my Aunt and Uncle decided to adopt her. My sister always makes a point to visit Stella when we are home and she truly loves Claire. She’s a beautiful dog and a perfect model (she just required plenty of Snausages to keep her interested). We did two rounds of photo shoots, the first wearing a Lady collar and the second wearing a Gandalf collar.

We celebrated Mother’s Day with a delicious dinner with a few of my favorites, my own mom, my Aunt Hallie, and my Grandma. Of course, all the animals were a big part of the evening as well. It is truly refreshing taking a break from the city and spending time with my family in Virginville.

We headed back to Philadelphia on Sunday early afternoon for dinner with Andrew’s family. We went to Smokin’ Betty’s at 11th and Sansom, which was delicious as well. It was a really fantastic weekend celebrating our mom’s!
